Today is March 1st. Granted we still have a few weeks left of winter (technically) BUT seeing as how today is the first day of March, it’s only fitting we can start to make plans for the spring. Now, keep in mind, we are still looking at some winter weather this weekend and the temperatures aren’t exactly screaming spring YET but it’s never to early to start making plans for when the flowers will be in full bloom.

We are taking a look at several things to do outside when the weather is warm enough to do so. These places are favorites of Bostonians and tourists alike. There are also some fun events that are taking place in Boston this spring so we’ve taken those into account as well. So pack a hoodie (because you really don’t know about this unpredictable weather) and get ready for a fun day out this spring in Boston.

• Visit Arnold Arboretum

  A 281-acre preserve in the heart of Boston, the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University stewards one of the world’s most comprehensive and best documented collections of temperate woody plants, with particular focus on the floras of eastern North America and eastern Asia.

• Visit the Freedom Trail

  The Freedom Trail is a 2.5-mile-long path through Boston, Massachusetts, that passes by 16 locations significant to the history of the United States. 

• Visit a rooftop bar and enjoy the Boston skyline

  Grab some friends and hit up a rooftop bar in the city to enjoy the Boston skyline

• Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

  There are several St. Patrick’s Day events around the city

• Visit The Hidden Gardens of Beacon Hill

  This year’s tour is happening in May, so you can prepare early

• Cheer on the runners of the Boston Marathon

  The 127th running takes place on April 17

• Take a cruise around Boston Harbor

• Take a walk down the Rose Kennedy Greenway

  The Greenway is a contemporary public park in the heart of Boston, where millions of visitors come to gather, unwind, and explore.

• Visit Art in Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts

  Art in Bloom returns to the MFA’s galleries on Friday, April 28, 2023! You won’t want to miss these beautiful interpretive floral arrangements of 45 artworks.

• Walk the Boston Public Garden

  The Public Garden was the first public botanical garden in America.

• Have a picnic on the Common

  With spring comes the return of the many flowers and trees in the Boston Common and in the Boston Public Garden, both of which make for some excellent warm weather strolling.
