Judges Or Auctioneer Gavel On The Dollar Cash Background, Top View, Close-Up. Concept For Corruption, Bankruptcy, Bail, Crime, Bribing, Fraud, Auction Bidding, Fines

Facebook has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit for $725 million which means most Americans with Facebook accounts are entitled to a piece of it. Before we get into the details of the suit, let’s first explain exactly what a class action suit is. The true definition of a class action suit is when one of the parties is a group of people and they are represented collectively by a member or members of that group. It typically involves a group of 40 or more people who have been harmed in some way and instead of each one of those people going to court separately for damages, they do it as a group and the problem gets resolved in a single proceeding as opposed to dozens of separate ones.

In regards to the Facebook suit, you may have received a notification recently that you may be entitled to money via a class action lawsuit. First things first, it’s NOT a scam. Many people are skeptical to click “opt in” to those types of notifications because they think people are trying to collect their personal information. But this one is real.
