Americans Interested in Moving to New Zealand Jumps Amid Coronavirus
If you have dreamed of moving to another country as the pandemic continues across the U.S., you aren’t alone, and New Zealand seems to be a top place to go.
80,000 American citizens visited the New Zealand Now website in May according to figures released by Immigration New Zealand.
That’s a 65% jump in Americans searching for information on moving to New Zealand compared to the same time last year.
New Zealand went into lockdown on March 25th and by May had pretty much had eliminated coronavirus by shutting the borders and enforcing state-at-home-orders.
New Zealand had fewer than 1,500 people infected with COVID-19; only 22 people have died.
Similar surges in interest were also noted after President Trump was elected in 2016.
