Jay-Z Fans Celebrate New Brooklyn Library Exhibit – The Book Of HOV
If you’re a fan of Jay-Z, you might want to head to the library. Unfortunately, it’s not our own Boston Public Library which is awesome, so check it out. The Brooklyn Public Library now has a new exhibit celebrating Jay-Z and his contributions to the world.
What is The Book of HOV?
According to the Brooklyn Public Library’s website, “The Book Of HOV is a tribute exhibition at the Brooklyn Public Library, Central Branch, recognizing Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter’s extraordinary journey from Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects to global figure. The multimedia exhibit explores JAY-Z’s global impact as a musician, innovator, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.”
What’s at the exhibit?
“The Book of HOV presents thousands of archived objects, including original recording masters, never-before-seen photos, iconic stage wear, prestigious awards and recognitions, as well as videos and artifacts from every facet on Jay-Z’s professional life.”
When can I visit?
The Book of HOV is a temporary exhibit that is free and open to the public. The library does say that certain areas of the exhibit will be timed upon entry due to capacity restrictions. You will be able to see the exhibit during regular library hours that you can find HERE.
What else do I need to know?
The Book of HOV opens today (July 14th) and is executive produced by Roc Nation. During the time that the exhibit will be open, you will be able to get something special while you’re there. During its run, visitors of the library can collect 13 different special edition Jay-Z-inspired library cards. I absolutely love that and need to book my trip to Brooklyn to check it out.
More on that: “In conjunction with The Book of HOV, the first exhibition dedicated to Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter’s unparalleled body of work, Brooklyn Public Library and Roc Nation have joined forces to create 13 limited-edition library cards, each featuring art from an iconic JAY-Z album—from Reasonable Doubt to 4:44. Visitors can collect all 13 cards, available at various branches across the borough beginning July 14. A Brooklyn Public Library card is all New Yorkers need to access millions of free books and media; vinyl records and musical instruments; free passes to cultural organizations; and programming, classes, social services and resources for every stage of life. Get yours while supplies last!”
