Anonymous Customer Leaves $16K Tip at New Hampshire Restaurant
Someone was feeling really generous while dining at The Stumble Inn the other night!
A customer at the Londonderry, New Hampshire restaurant ordered a couple of chili dogs, fried pickle chips and drinks, and then left a $16,000 tip on the $37.93 tab. At first, the staff didn’t even notice, Mike Zarella, owner of the Stumble Inn Bar and Grill in Londonderry, told WMUR-TV.
“It was on the credit card statement, they put it down next to the register and he said three times, ‘Don’t spend it all in one place.’ That’s what made her flip it over and look, and she’s like, ‘Oh my god, are you serious?’ And he said, ‘I want you to have it, you guys work hard,” owner Mike Zarella said.
The eight bartenders working contacted the owner thinking it could have been a mistake. “It could have been maybe a $160 tip and he added extra zeros,” Zarella said. “The bar manager talked to the gentleman and he said, ‘No, it’s $16,000.’”
The generous tipper, who is not a regular at the restaurant, wishes to stay anonymous. Zarella said that this is the biggest in the history of the business.
“Stumble inn had a very generous customer. We thank you for your generosity,” Zarella shared on Facebook.
