Pop-Up Drive-In Theater Coming To Gillette Stadium!
Looking to get out of the house for a movie night with the family? Many are turning to drive-in theaters in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, and some movie theaters are taking note.
Showcase Cinemas de Lux in Foxboro’s Patriot Place is the latest to offer the drive-in experience for New Englanders.
Their first showing, which is already sold out, is scheduled for Saturday, May 30th at sunset, but there are plenty of other films scheduled: Onward on Friday, June 5th, Trolls World Tour on Friday, June 12, and Sonic The Hedgehog on Friday, June 19th.
“Drive-ins are a big part of Showcase Cinemas’ 80-year history as the company was one of the first theater chains to introduce and embrace the drive-in concept throughout the 20th century,” said Mark Malinowski, Vice President of Global Marketing for Showcase Cinemas.
Tickets are $20 per automobile and for the first sold-out showing of Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, all ticket proceeds are being donated to the Foxboro Food Pantry.
“We are excited for our guests to enjoy this timeless summer tradition with us from the safety of their vehicles,” said Brian Earley, Vice President and General Manager of Patriot Place. “We are also thankful for the opportunity to give back to the Foxboro community with all ticket sales from the ‘Raiders’ showing benefitting the Foxboro Food Pantry.”
Showcase Cinemas is taking social distancing precautions as well with concession orders happening only through their app, asking viewers to remain in their cars through the show, frequent restroom cleanings, and more.
