David Ortiz or Pedro Martinez To Appear At Fenway Park Card Show

If have been longing for an autograph from Red Sox legends like David Ortiz or Pedro Martinez, Saturday is your chance. Fenway Park’s biggest card and collectible show is this weekend. On Saturday, May 20 and Sunday May 21, ten different Red Sox players will appear at the Fenway Card Show.

Big Night and Fenway Sports Management will host the second annual Fenway Card Show at Boston’s Fenway Park. The event welcomes over 100 collectors, dealers, exhibitors, manufacturers, licensors, hobby heavyweights, and industry innovators worldwide.

“From new and vintage sports card products to memorabilia, autographs, and groundbreaking physical and digital collectibles, the Fenway Card Show aspires to become the landmark showcase and gathering place for the hobby’s most influential players, enthusiasts, media, and spectators,” MLB states.

Who Is Going To Be There?

Jonathan Paperlbon and Jack Clark start things off on Saturday. They will hold autograph signings from 11 am – 12:30 pm. Next, Pedro Martinez will take to the autograph hill from 12 pm-1:30 pm. Finally, on Saturday, David Ortiz will make the last autograph appearance from 2-3:30 pm.

Sunday’s event will include eight additional players. Tim Wakefield, Mike Timlin, Luis Tiant, Jose Canseco, Jonny Gomes, Steve Pearce, Brock Holt, and Rico Petrocelli will be onsite signing at various times throughout the day.

Specific autograph singing packages can be purchased in advance.

The Details

The card show will be from 9 am to 5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. The booths will be set up at the Big Concourse inside the park. Guests are asked to enter through Gate B, which is at the intersection of Ipswich Street and Van Ness Street.

What Else?

Card Vault is still offering the opportunity to purchase a vendor table at the event. In addition, Big Night Entertainment has a suggested hotel room block for those traveling from out of town. Individual tickets or weekend passes are available to purchase through FenwayCardShow.com.

With the Red Sox on the west coast playing the Padres and Angels, their stadium will still be busy with Fenway Park’s biggest card and collectible show happening this weekend.

What are the Boston Red Sox Retired Numbers?

Boston Red Sox left fielder Alex Verdugo wears number 99. Closer Kenley Jansen wears number 74. At first glance, you may think these are not typical baseball uniform numbers. The organization has 11 options that are immediately unavailable. The Red Sox retired numbers include 10 players that are forever Yawkey Way legends, and one player who is forever a MLB legend.

The Red Sox first retired a uniform number in 1984. It was #4 which belonged to Joe Cronin, who spent 48 years in baseball. The nod was to honor the fact that Cronin was a player, manager, and executive with Boston. Five days later (May 29, 1984) the Red Sox retired Ted Williams’ #9. It would be four years until another number was retired with Bobby Doerr.

In April of 1997 all of Major League Baseball retired #42 in honor of Jackie Robinson.

Walking into Fenway Park you will see banners draped along the outside walls of the stadium honoring each player who has their number retired. You will also see them displayed high above right field inside the park, complimenting the Pesky pole.
