New England City Named to 7 Ugliest Cities in America List
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And if beauty to you, like me, is a big greasy pizza pie then your feathers are about to get ruffled.
Sometime Traveler delivered the 7 gut punches, pointing out the 7 American cities they find the “ugliest.” They targeted cities with the worst problems when it comes to the less favorable things in life, you know: pollution, crime, poverty, bad city design… you know, stuff like that.
And in the end THE Ugliest City in America is..
Detroit, Michigan.
Dang, poor Detroit. For decades they’ve been the punchline to so many jokes. Detroit is a little rough around the edges but it’s got a fighter’s soul and I really believe it’s bounceback will be a big story soon. But not quite yet. Right now it’s just most jokes about how it sucks.
Fresno, California was named second ugliest, followed by Cleveland, El Paso, and Honolulu, Hawaii?!? Say whaaaaaaa? I haven’t even been able to save enough cash and vacation time to see Hawaii with my own eyes and now it’s “ugly?” Yeesh.
Next up, at #6 ugliest in America, is our New England entry. So congratulations to this city for being named one of the 7 uglies in America… and by default THE ugliest city in New England! The dubious honor goes to New Haven, Connecticut. Sometime Traveler sites New Haven’s poverty, homelessness rates, and high crime landed it in the Top 7 Ugliest Cities in America.

Let’s steer this boat back into positive waters. New Haven was named “ugly” but they have the best pizza in all the lands! So… let’s celebrate PIZZA! One surprising pizza spot was named the best family pizza joint in Massachusetts – and it’s most likely NOT one that you’re thinking about right now:
