New England Has Some Of The Best Mountains For Night Skiing
There is only one thing better than skiing on a day that is filled with fresh powder. That would be hitting those slopes under the lights at night. To get ready for winter, Freeskier recently listed the best mountains in the country for night skiing. New England has a few locations named.
“Whether out of necessity—having jobs or other commitments that prevent them from skiing during the day or the social aspect or simply the solitude of nighttime turns, skiers across the nation have become hooked on skiing under the stars,” Freeskier exclaims.
It is quite common for true enthusiasts to long for the slope conditions you will find out west. Colorado, Utah, Jackson Hole, and Montana, for example. However, for those who seek the thrill of skiing (or snowboarding) at night. you can stay right here in New England for the thrill. Even for those who frequent the mountain regularly, skiing at night offers an entirely different experience.
Wachusett and Bolton Valley Are Named Among The Best
In Massachusetts, Wachusett Mountain has slopes open until 9:30 pm. In fact, you can even purchase a seasonal night pass. This will grant you access to night skiing here from 7 pm to 9:30 pm every night through March 9. The cost for this pass is $399.
“Bolton Valley is the largest mountain with night skiing in Vermont and the only mountain with real chairlift access after dark,” Vermont Lifttickets explains. Here, you can ski or snowboard until 10 pm, five days per week. Bolton Valley offers two options to do so. A late-day pass is valid from 1 pm – 10 pm. Then, the night tickets are specifically for 4 pm to 10 pm.
Honorable Mention
Last winter, On The Snow published a similar feature that detailed the best mountains across the country for night skiing. In their feature, three New England mountains were highlighted. In addition to Wachusett and Bolton Valley, New Hampshire also got some love, with Cranmore also making the list.
