OpenTable, an online restaurant-reservation service company, has just launched a new program. It’s called Icons, and is a new, city-specific area on OpenTable where people can discover and book reservations for the hottest and most in-demand tables.
Qualifications For Iconic Boston Restaurants
According to OpenTable, here’s how they decided on the 9 Iconic Boston Restaurants. They said, “To earn the designation of an OpenTable Icon, restaurants must meet criteria including accolades like recently earned MICHELIN stars and James Beard Foundation awards and nominations, positive diner and critic reviews, celebrated chefs, and strong diner interest, among other factors.”

Comfort Kitchen in Dorchester – Comfort Kitchen says that their food is a celebration of the ingredients and flavors of the African diaspora. It’s global comfort food. They are a Black-owned, immigrant-owned, and woman-owned business.
Eastern Standard in the Fenway – The restaurant offers “seasonally focused New England interpretations of classic brasserie fare.” Some of their menu items” a raw bar and charcuterie, steak tartare, baked rigatoni, steak frites, and butterscotch bread pudding.
Pammy’s in Cambridge – Pammy’s is a New American restaurant that’s inspired by the feel of an Italian neighborhood trattoria. It’s headed by husband and wife team Chris and Pam Willis, and for them, Pammy’s is an extension of their living room.
The Nautilus Boston Pier 4 – Featuring “New England coastal seafood meats Asian haute street food” cuisine, the restaurant if built on the idea that “Everything is Better Shared.
Puritan & Company in Cambridge – Led by Chef and owner Will Gilson, Puritan & Company serves modern American cuisine. Make your reservation to try some elegant, seafood-forward dishes like smoked bluefish pate, or lobster risotto.
Mahaniyom in Brookline – Head to Brookline for some tapas/family style Thai cuisine made from scratch.
La Royal in Cambridge – La Royal won Boston Magazine’s Best New Restaurant in 2022. While serving Peruvian cuisine, Chef JuanMa Calderon also leans into other cuisines in Peru like Chifa or Chinese-Peruvian food like stir-fried noodles with seafood, and Nikkei-style portobello mushroom sashimi.
Celeste in Somerville –
Eater Boston named it restaurant of the year when it opened in 2018. That’s because chef and owner JuanMa Calderon is recreating the recipes he learned from his mother and grandmother in a cozy and sleek space that will make you feel like you’re eating in Calderon and his partner Maria Rondeau’s home. You can expect some of the best ceviches in the city, the Andean stew carapulcra with pork and chicken, and colorful cocktails that celebrate Peruvian spirits and drinks like pisco and chicha.
Uni in Boston – The Best of Boston 2024 winner is run by executive chefs Ken Oringer & David Bazirgan. The Back Bay restaurant has been open since 2002 and “still turns out some of the city’s best seafood, much of it sourced from Tokyo’s famed Tsukiji market.”
