Boston Athletes Past And Present React To Patriots Overtime Win
The New England Patriots punched their ticket to Super Bowl LIII with a thrilling 37-31 overtime final over the Kansas City Chiefs, once again delivering Boston sports fans another instant classic that tested them in more ways than one.
With no shortage of reactions from those that also play (or have played) in town, too.
Celtics guard Marcus Smart, who could probably double as a linebacker on Celtic off-days, congratulated the team and his friend Stephon Gilmore on advancing to another Super Bowl, and kept their eyes on the next prize.

Celtics legend Paul Pierce opted to compare the 41-year-old Brady to some otherworldly and mythological creatures, giving the advantage to the Patriots quarterback against each.
There’s aliens there’s pegasus and there’s Tom Brady 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾🐐🐐🐐💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🤷🏿♂️

Even Isaiah Thomas got in on the fun, stating the seemingly obvious regarding Brady.

Another beloved 5-foot-9 star that’s done his best work at TD Garden, Bruins winger Brad Marchand, also took to Twitter to congratulate the Patriots.

But perhaps no reaction encapsulated all of New England’s reaction more than that featured on the Instagram account of Red Sox slugger, J.D. Martinez, who broke out his Pats jersey for overtime and was standing inches from his TV in anticipation.
J.D. is all of New England 😂

Red Sox legend David Ortiz, meanwhile, had a simple message.

It’s in Atlanta that Brady and Patriots will square off against the Los Angeles Rams in search of their sixth Super Bowl title.
