Watch Malden High Seniors Get a Special Surprise
This made me so happy! I was so excited to see so many happy kids at Malden High School yesterday at the school’s Senior Awards Night. Malden’s Mayor Gary Christenson announced that each student was getting a surprise $1,000 scholarship from the city. Woo hoo!
Christensen said that the cost of college is daunting to most families, and was made worse by the pandemic. They hope that this will make things a little easier for their families. Not only will the $1,000 scholarships go to Malden High seniors, but also to any Malden resident who is a graduating senior and attending college.
I’m so excited for them. Congrats and good luck to all the Malden High seniors headed to college. Here’s the official announcement from the city, and below is the happy moment when the announcement was made.
“I just short-circuited. I was like, ‘no way this is happening. It has to be a prank. Where are the cameras?!’”
