Two New England States Named Top States For Selling Homes the Fastest!

Selling your home in today’s red-hot real estate market is like winning a jackpot – and here’s why you should jump on the bandwagon for a lightning-fast sale!

First and foremost, picture all the sweet green dollar bills flowing into your wallet. With demand through the roof, you’ll likely score a higher selling price and a quick turnaround. Cha-ching!

Imagine all the freedom and flexibility that comes with a fast sale. You can wave goodbye to never-ending showings, nosy neighbors, and the constant pressure of keeping everything picture-perfect.

Also, let’s not overlook the ever-enticing “peace of mind.” Selling your home quickly means less stress, fewer sleepless nights, and more time to focus on the exciting future.

“If you are looking to sell your home, there are many things to consider that might help you get a sale sooner, like opting to sell your home in the Spring or Summer months over Winter as well as taking your time to do thorough research regarding how many other homes in your area are on the market and at what prices,” Chris Heller, co-founder of Agent Advice said in a press release. “Though the average time for a home to sell in America is 43 days, it is fascinating to see which states are selling homes with ease and which states are taking longer to get houses on the market swept up.“ 

So where are the states where homes sell the fastest?

Real estate experts at Agent Advice analyzed historical realtor data for the average amount of time homes in the US are on the market for in each state.

Let’s start with the state where it takes the longest to sell:

New York.

New York is the state where homes are taking the longest to sell, with an average of 61.5 days from list to sale. (Taking almost twice as long to sell as homes in the top states.)  

What about other New England states made the top?

Rhode Island came in 5th place, taking 35.5 days on average to get taken off the market.

So what are the two New England states with the fastest selling homes?

Massachusetts and New Hampshire are the top states for selling homes the quickest, with the average home staying on the market for just 32 days.

4 Massachusetts Suburbs Make The List Of The Hottest Zip Codes To Buy A House

If you’re looking to buy a home in Massachusetts, you really don’t need to go any further than these 4 suburbs. Realtor.com recently did a survey highlighting the hottest zip codes of 2023 and believe it or not, 4 towns in the state were ranked in the top 50 in the entire country. One town in particular actually made the top 10! Before we reveal them, let’s take a look at how this list was compiled.

Realtor.com took the median prices of homes in each of these towns and combined it with the median amount of time spent on the market and number of people viewing those homes. According to the site: “The Northeast markets on the list tended to be higher priced, but offered more space at a discount relative to the central areas of high-cost metros nearby.” 6 of the top 10 towns are in the northeast. Besides the 6 in the northeast, the other 4 towns in the top 10 are in the midwest. They include: Chicago, Columbus, Detroit and St. Louis.

Now let’s get to the four Massachusetts towns that made the list of the top 50. Shrewsbury came in at #22 and Westfield at #21. Attleboro came in at #20 and the highest Massachusetts town on the list is Andover. Andover came in at #4. We will get into the details of those rankings below.

The other towns in the northeast that made the top 10 include: Southington, CT, Norwalk, CT, Ridgewood, NJ, Nazareth PA, and Pittsford, NY. Did they nail it with these findings?     Norwalk’s nickname is “Oyster Town” because of the number of oyster fisheries there. They’ve been providing a large source of income to the city since the early 19th century. And if you’ve visited Norwalk, you may run into Diddy as Ciroc is bottled in Norwalk, which he has been a spokesperson for.
