Cambridge Fish Market Closing After 112 Years Leaving Customers Devastated
Residents of Cambridge are mourning the closing of Courthouse Fish Market on Cambridge Street. Courthouse Fish Market has been in business since 1912 and according to a statement on the market’s website: “We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your years of support and patronage at the fish market. While the fish market bids farewell, we are excited to inform you that our restaurant will continue to serve you with the same dedication to quality and excellence.”
The actual closing date for the market was January 13th so it has already closed its doors. The store was known for its fresh deliveries of fish daily AND for its reasonable prices which makes it difficult for customers to take. Customers like Herc Kalos posted his disappointment on Facebook saying “The place was one of my favorites when it came to seafood. Used to get clams there then bring them next door so they could make me steamers! Will be missed.” Others expressed their excitement that the restaurant next door will remain open.
Owners of the market were quick to express their gratitude to customers who’ve graced their business over the past 112 years. If you’re looking for somewhere new to try this year, we’ve put together a list of Boston area restaurants you MUST try in 2024.
