Today is National Proposal Day!  But what exactly does this mean? Well, if you're in a relationship and have been getting pressured to pop the question, today you may get even extra pressure to do so. Maybe you've been wanting to pop the question but have been waiting for a sign from above. Well, consider this your sign.

There is actually a significance behind this "holiday." Apparently, a man named John Michael O’Loughlin created the day because his cousin had just broken up with her boyfriend. She broke up with him because he wouldn't propose. The "holiday" is actually celebrated twice each year. The first day of spring and the first day of fall. The next time National Proposal Day will be celebrated this year is September 23.

But before you pop the question to your significant other, consider these things. First, make sure they're ready. There is nothing worse than getting rejected after a lavish proposal. Second, consider if they would want a big elaborate public proposal or a smaller more intimate proposal. It would be horrible if you made plans to propose say at the Celtics game if your partner was easily embarrassed or if they hated the spotlight.

So if you do plan on proposing today, consider these 6 New England locations. They are considered 6 of the most romantic places in New England according to Travel and Leisure Magazine.
