You’ve heard of Cocaine Bear. Now, meet Cocaine Cat. Although Cocaine Bear is a fictitious character for a movie, “cocaine cat” is very much a living breathing animal. The African serval cat escaped its owner’s car at a traffic stop back in January and was later discovered to have cocaine in its system. The cat’s owner was later arrested as a result.
Now there is an update to the story. You may have noticed “cocaine cat” is trending on social media and it’s because the cat will now be in the care of the Cincinnati Zoo.
The cat’s name is Amiry and after being cared for by the good people of Cincinnati Animal CARE’s facility, was transferred to the Cincinnati Zoo where it is now in treatment.
The cat will be behind the scenes for a while, while it is taken care of and nursed back to health. In the meantime, it is illegal to own a serval cat in Ohio, however the owner will no longer face any charges and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
